Analysis of tritium kinetics of SIBELIUS beryllium
نویسندگان
چکیده
A tritium transport model called BETTY has been developed to describe and predict the kinetics of tritium transport in irradiated beryllium in fusion blanket applications. Some USA SIBELIUS experimental data were released and provided useful input data for tritium transport models and code development. An analysis of these USA SIBELIUS experimental data was performed in this paper. A comparison of the tritium kinetics results predicted by the model with those from the experiments shows reasonable agreements. In addition, a parametric sensitivity analysis for the variance of surface activation energies and diffusion coefficient is performed and the minimal effects are observed based on the modeling results. © 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. Mass, (lo6 g) Volume, (m3) Thickness, (cm) T. Gen. Rate, (g/day) Abstract: This paper presents quantitative predict, ions for the tritium release and inventory in a water-cooled solid breeder blanket for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) obtained from the tritium transport code MISTRAL [l] recently developed at UCLA. The blanket consists of a layout assembly of solid br...
متن کاملModeling and analysis of mixed-material surface evolution and sputtering
Analysis of near-surface compositional changes in materials exposed to ion fluxes is important to a number of technological applications. These applications include preferential sputtering of multi-component materials, ion implantation, plasma contamination, and erosion of plasma facing components in future tokamak devices such as ITER. A model is developed that addresses the dynamics of compos...
متن کاملModeling of tritium release from beryllium in fusion blanket applications
Only limited data are available on tritium release from irradiated Be. Few models have been suggested for tritium release from beryllium. Simple diffusion/desorption models have been proposed, but lack the capability of accounting for important phenomena such as burst release through interconnected porosity and the effect of the Be0 impurity layer. This paper describes the application of a new ...
متن کاملErosion/redeposition analysis of the ITER first wall with convective and non-convective plasma transport
Sputtering erosion/redeposition is analyzed for ITER plasma facing components, with scrape-off layer (SOL) plasma convective radial transport and non-convective (diffusion-only) transport. The analysis uses the UEDGE and DEGAS codes to compute plasma SOL profiles and ion and neutral fluxes to the wall, TRIM-SP code to compute sputter yields, and REDEP/WBC code package for 3-D kinetic modeling o...
متن کاملIssues Associated with Codeposition of Deuterium with ITER Materials
Codeposition of fuel species with the various plasma-facing materials present in ITER is expected to be the primary source of tritium accumulation within the vacuum vessel. In this paper, the levels of retention in codeposited layers of each of the three ITER materials (C, Be and W) are compared. Scaling laws, based on the conditions during the codeposition process (surface temperature, inciden...
